140 Athletes Named For Competition At The Swedish National Muay Thai Championships This Month

The annual Swedish National Muay Thai Championships is one of the biggest Muay Thai events on the calendar in Sweden, and this year’s tournament (Thaiboxnings SM 2020) is just weeks away.

Yesterday, the Swedish Muay Thai Federation (Svenska Muaythai-Förbundet) released the complete list of athletes which will compete in each weight category at this year’s Championships.

No less than 140 athletes from around the country will gather in Halmstad to compete for the prestigious National title, and the opportunity to represent Sweden at the IFMA European and World Championships.

Swedish female (damer) stars Sofia Olfosson and Josefine Lindgren Knutsson will both be at the Championships in their respective 54kg and 51kg categories.

Unbeaten prospects Johanna Persson (GEFLE Fight Camp) and Emma Öhlund will both get there first opportunity at national glory, with 2019 champions Jessica Pettersson, Patricia Axling, Sara Matsson, Emma Stonegård and Angela Mamic all aiming to retain their crowns.

In the male (herrar) categories, 2019 champions Nicholas Bryant, Kim Falk, Jonathan Larsson and Anton Sjöqvist all return to their respective weight divisions.

2019 champion and rising prospect Anton Sjöqvist will be looking to claim his second senior -75kg title, but faces a difficult task in one of the Championships busiest divisions, with no less than 10 active athletes.
