4 British fighters defending WBC Muaythai World titles

The UK currently has seven WBC Muaythai World champions. Four of those are set to make their first defence in the coming weeks.

Lyndon Knowles is set to defend his Heavyweight World title this weekend. He defeated former champ Mateusz Duczmal in a rematch back in November. This week he flew out to Ivory Coast ahead of his first defence against “Oly La Machine”.

In just over four weeks, two of the UK’s best will defend their World titles, but at opposite sides of the globe.

On June 25, WBC Muaythai Women’s Lightweight World champion, Niamh Kinehan, will fly to Australia. She will make her first title defence against Australian National champion, Shannon Gardiner. The pair will clash at Muay Thai Grand Prix in Perth, Western Australia.

On the same event, Light-Heavyweight World champion, George Mann, will also defend his title. He defeated Charlie Bubb to win the green and gold strap last year. He will make his first defence against Frenchman, Mikael Benatar, on June 25.

On the same night, Nathan Bendon will put his title on the line. He won the Super-Lightweight title back in February, defeating Adam Noi in the main event at SuperShowDown. His first defence will be against fellow-British star, Nico Carrillo.

Currently riding an active nine fight win streak, the 23-year-old has been unstoppable in recent years. Stoppage wins against top ranked fighters Mo Abdurahman and Jack Kennedy in 2021 put the Scottish knockout-artist top of the UK rankings.

He will now get the opportunity to face Nathan Bendon for the WBC Muaythai World title, at SuperShowDown on Saturday, June 25.
