Less than two weeks ago, it was revealed Nico Carrillo would face Rambo Phet-Por-Tor-Aor for the WMO MuayThai World title. Due to unforeseen circumstances, however, the bout fell through.
With the ‘King of the North’ ready to challenge anyone, SuperShowDown promoter, Brian Calder, was quick to secure a deal. Nico Carrillo will now face dangerous Italian fighter, Alessio Malastesta for the vacant world title. The bout will be the main event at SuperShowDown on November 12.
Carrillo has been out of action since his monumental victory over Muay Thai legend, Saeksan Or.Kwanmuang in Ireland in April. He was later scheduled to face Nathan Bendon for the WBC MuayThai world title. The bout fell through due to injury, however, which led to some heated exchanges between the pair.
Carrillo then spent the summer travelling to the States, teaching seminars in California and Florida. Now, he is back to full fitness and ready to add another title to his ever-growing collection. But tough Italian fighter Alessio Malatesta will be no easy feat.

Despite a loss to Garrett Smylie recently, Malatesta is one of the most accomplished Muay Thai fighters in Europe. In 2019, he won the MAX Muay Thai Global title. At the time, this was a highly sought-after and respected accolade for any foreign Muay Thai fighter competing in Thailand. He has also claimed the MTGP Intercontinental title in 2021 and the WMC MuayThai Intercontinental title in 2022. Other accomplishments include the IMTKA European and World titles.
Malatesta has also scored some big wins over some of Europe’s best fighters in recent years. In July 2021, he defeated tough Spanish star, Victor Conesa, better known to UK fans for his win over Brian Totty at Rebellion earlier this year.
This will not be his first time competing in the UK. Last year, he earned a draw against former WBC MuayThai European champion, Liam McGrandles.
