It’s been a successful year for Polish heavyweight Mateusz Duczmal. With three wins from four fights on some of the biggest promotions in Europe, the Bad Company powerhouse reflects on a defining year in his fight career.
The first fight of the year was back in March when he took on the extremely dangerous Christian Ristea of Romania at the Homeshow 9 in Blyth, Northumberland. Many had Duczmal as the underdog in this fight but his strength and power was enough to earn the points win against Ristea.
Next up was a World Title fight against Raymond Bonte on Global Fights in Holland. Bonte, who has fought on GLORY Kickboxing, is a well established name Worldwide. Again Duczmal was the victor as he battled his way to a World title in Den Haag.
Soon after that, Duczmal accepted a short notice fight on the huge Russian promotion Akhmat Kickboxing against five-time World Champion Turpal Tokaev. The decision did not go Mateusz‘ way but he said this was one of his best performances so far.
“I lost on points but it was my best performance so far; a true war and hopefully one day I will get the rematch.”
Duczmal‘s fourth and last fight of 2018 came last week when he competed in a Team Poland vs Team Belarus show on DSF Kickboxing in his home country of Poland; one of the biggest kickboxing shows in Eastern Europe where he stopped his opponent Kamkou with a second round knee to the head.
When asked about his thought on 2018, Mateusz responded; “This year I have become a World champion and UK #1 in K1 at -95kg. I’m young, hungry and ambitious. I want to fight the big names on the big shows and I’m ready to fight anyone in Muay Thai or K1 at my weight.”
“I’m on my way to the top and nothing is going to stop me.”
