ONE Championship returns to Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, August 8. ONE SAMURAI 2 emanates live from EBARA WAVE Arena Ota. The card is built around the ONE SAMURAI Featherweight Kickboxing Tournament.
Three of the tournament’s four quarterfinals take place in Tokyo. The winner of the eight man bracket earns a shot at Superbon’s ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title. The fourth quarterfinal happens the night before, at The Inner Circle 25 in Bangkok. There, Marat Grigorian meets Mamuka Usubyan.
Masaaki Noiri vs Liu Mengyang
Masaaki Noiri headlines ONE SAMURAI 2 in a rematch with Liu Mengyang. The two first met at ONE Friday Fights 92 in 2024, where Liu won a close decision. Noiri is 33 and a former Interim ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion.
He bounced back from that early loss with a calf kick finish of Shakir Al Tekreeti. He then scored a stunning comeback knockout of Tawanchai to claim interim gold. Noiri later lost a unification bout to Superbon and dropped the belt.
Liu Mengyang, known as Spirit Dragon, is only 23. He beat Noiri in their first fight with a knockdown and a clear decision. He then dropped a bout to Mohammad Siasarani before rebuilding his run. Since then he has beaten former title challenger Shadow Mavinn and stopped Tawanchai with a leg kick.
Most recently he dismantled Gabriel Pereira after Superbon withdrew injured from their scheduled fight. Noiri wants revenge for that first loss. Liu wants to prove it was no fluke.
Kaito vs Mohammad Siasarani
Kaito meets Mohammad Siasarani in another rematch with unfinished business. Kaito has won the K1 title several times and is known for his technical skill. He even has a win over Noiri from outside ONE Championship. Inside ONE, Siasarani spoiled his debut at ONE Friday Fights 109 with pressure and volume.
Siasarani is an Iranian finisher who rose through the ONE Friday Fights series. He won eight fights on the weekly show, including victories over both Liu and Kaito. A knockout of Jo Nattawut at ONE Friday Fights 137 earned him a US$100,000 contract.
He then won a war against Pedro Dantas in his main roster debut. Kaito is chasing redemption after a first round knockout loss to Marat Grigorian at ONE SAMURAI 1. A win on Friday would keep his tournament hopes alive.
