Just days after announcing his retirement from kickboxing, GLORY Kickboxing Featherweight World Champion Petchpanomrung Kiatmoo9 was spotted in attendance at Rajadamnern Stadium on Saturday 8th August, watching the main event of RWS Muay Thai between Dam Parunchai and Capitan Petchyindee.
His presence at one of Muay Thai’s most prestigious venues has done little to dampen speculation about what comes next for one of combat sports’ most technically gifted fighters.
The End of a Kickboxing Era
Petchpanomrung announced his retirement from kickboxing on 5th August 2026, just weeks after his final appearance in the sport. On 6th June 2026, the Thai southpaw made his final kickboxing appearance, losing an extended-round unanimous decision to Kento Haraguchi in the GLORY x RISE Last Featherweight Standing final.
Making his kickboxing debut in 2016 at GLORY 35: Nice, Petchpanomrung quickly established himself as one of the most dominant forces in the sport. After coming up short against Robin van Roosmalen at GLORY 41: Holland in 2017, he earned another opportunity against the Dutchman one year later. At GLORY 59: Amsterdam, he defeated van Roosmalen to capture the GLORY Featherweight Championship.
What followed was a championship reign for the ages. Petchpanomrung defended his belt nine consecutive times against some of the division’s best fighters, including Miguel Trindade, Kento Haraguchi, Abraham Vidales, and Kevin VanNostrand. His nine successful title defenses remain a GLORY featherweight record. He also added the RISE Super Lightweight Championship to his collection and won the inaugural Featherweight World Grand Prix.
At 31 years old and with nothing left to prove in kickboxing, “The Professor” closed the chapter on a legendary career.
A Muay Thai Return Beckons
His retirement from kickboxing does not appear to mean retirement from fighting altogether. According to his trainer and manager Adrian Fairtex, negotiations with a major Muay Thai organisation are already underway.
Adrian told BeyondKick.com:
“He has achieved everything there is to achieve in kickboxing — multiple world titles, successful title defenses, and a legacy that will be remembered for years to come. There is simply nothing left for him to prove in the sport. We’re currently in negotiations with a major Muay Thai organisation, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that everything comes together.”
Adrian added: “The one achievement that has always eluded Petch is winning a prestigious stadium Muay Thai title. That has always been a dream, and now we have the opportunity to chase it.”
Why RWS Muay Thai Makes Sense
His appearance at Rajadamnern Stadium on Saturday was not lost on those inside the venue. Petchpanomrung watched the Super-Lightweight world title defence between Dam Parunchai and Capitan Petchyindee up close.
If those negotiations are with RWS Muay Thai, the prospect of Petchpanomrung chasing a Rajadamnern Stadium title would represent one of the most compelling storylines in Muay Thai in years. A fighter who dominated kickboxing for nearly a decade, returning to the roots of the sport with unfinished business.
Saturday night at Rajadamnern Stadium may have been more than a casual visit.
Fight Record will bring you further updates on Petchpanomrung’s next move as they are confirmed.
