Chris Whittle has been matched to fight the Irishman Craig Coakley on Yokkao 30 this weekend. Fight Record had a little catch up with him to see how he is getting on and to see how excited he is for the weekend “Very excited about the weekend and setting off 2018 on Yokkao!”
Yokkao is one of the biggest stages there is around at the moment and Whittle has featured on it a number of times already fighting, Stewart Pringle and Ross George being a couple of them, Whittle has been fighting abroad with his coach, Frankie Hudders and the Franks Gym team.
The Manchester based fighter will be taking on a formidable opponent, Craig Coakley. With a win over Stephen Meleady in July last year and also walked through Myk Estlick, who was on a winning streak on the Yokkao stage, will this be a challenge for Whittle come fight night? “To be honest, I’ve not watched the Myk vs Craig fight, I just remember someone saying that Craig had won. We’ve just been keeping to our schedule & working hard.”
Suffering a loss at the back end of last year, Whittle is looking forward to “Gets me back to winning and a redemption for myself,” when Fight Record asked him if there was anything in particular he had been working on for Coakley, he said, “We’ll see after the first round. Anything can change from a video from last year.”
Whittle is looking forward now to the rest of the year, looking to “after the weekend more fights will come up and keep chasing them opportunities,” Frankie does a fantastic job of lining quality fights up for his team. You will generally find that they spend quite a lot of time abroad fighting on the continent and further afield.
What will happen this weekend? Will Whittle be able to hold his own against the Irishman or will Coakley suffer the wrath of the Manc. All will be told this weekend on Yokkao 30.
