World Lethwei Championship returns on Friday 25th September with another night of world-class lethwei action, this time titled WLC: LETHWEI SHOWCASE.
The event will stream on UFC Fight Pass, Canal+ and more than 100 countries globally. Here are five reasons why you should tune in.
- Myanmar Represent!
Myanmar will be well-represented at WLC: LETHWEI SHOWCASE with three top Burmese athletes representing the country which is the birthplace of lethwei at this event. Jay Chay and Pha Kyaw Hae will compete in the Bantamweight division, while Saw Hla Min, fresh off an epic World Lethwei Championship debut in January, battles Argentina’s Yoel Paique in the Light Welterweight division.
- Women’s Lethwei Contest
World Lethwei Championship has scheduled a female fight at every event since the launch of the women’s division and this time, it will be a bantamweight contest between Italy’s Miriam Sabot against Thailand’s Petchnaree. Sabot is a decorated athlete who had a lethwei fight against Myanmar’s #1 female athlete Veronika that ended in a draw, while Petchnaree is top 5 among female muay thai athletes.
- Epic Co-Main Event
In the co main event of the evening, it will be youth vs experience as Thai teenager prodigy Saensuek takes on seasoned veteran Nico Mendes. Saensuek is barely out of his teens but have been a mainstay in the muay thai circuit and has impressed enough to earn an opportunity at World Lethwei Championship while Nico Mendes cuts an imposing figure with his lanky frame and chiseled muscles. Mendes will have a significant reach advantage and with his technical prowess, will prove to be the sternest test in Saensuek’s young career.

He has easily been the brightest star in World Lethwei Championship and his fights are some of the most exciting in the world. Now the Light Welterweight World Lethwei Champion, he defends his title for the first time against Spanish MMA veteran Francisco Vinuelas in the main event.
