Anissa Meksen — one of the greatest female kickboxers in the World — will make her long-awaited ONE Championship debut on Friday, September 3.
The former GLORY Kickboxing World champion signed with global martial arts giants ONE Championship back in August 2020.
Since then, like most fighters, she has been left frustrated by lack of competitive action due to ongoing travel restrictions across the globe.
In May 2021, Anissa Meksen finally received some good news, when she was matched to face Martine Michieletto in a Bantamweight Muay Thai bout on the all-female event, ONE: EMPOWER.
The relief was short lived however, as the whole event was postponed due to travel complications with a number of fighters on the card.
Fast-forward three months, and now the first-ever all-female fight card in ONE Championship history is set for Friday, September 3, in Singapore.
This time, Anissa Meksen will face two-time ISKA World champion and ENFUSION Kickboxing World champion, Cristina Morales. The pair are set to meet in an Atomweight Kickboxing bout.
Speaking with Meksen this week, she told us;
“I feel amazing! I can’t wait to step back in the cage. During this time out, I have never stopped training. I feel super ready for this fight!”
Earlier this year, Meksen made her feelings clear when she called out current ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World champion, Janet Todd.
“If I win this fight against Cristina Morales, I want to face Janet Todd before the end of the year, and I really hope ONE will make it happen”, Meksen told us.
She continued, “She’s [Janet] ready, I’m ready, it’s time to make that fight happen!”
Meksen went on to explain that she wants to make history in ONE Championship by challenging for both Kickboxing and Muay Thai World titles in two different weight classes;
“I have big ambitions in ONE Championship. After the title in Kickboxing, I want to fight for the Muay Thai belt, and why not go up to Strawweight and be the first ever fighter to take all four titles. But first of all, I have a fight this Friday and this is my first step.”
