Despite the ongoing COVID-related restrictions, Australia has remained one of only few countries around the World to host Muay Thai events in the early part of 2021 – many of which have hosted WMO Muay Thai State and National title bouts.
Much like the symbolic green of the WBC Muaythai, the light blue strap of the WMO Muay Thai is an iconic and sought-after accolade for any Muay Thai fighter.
On 17th July, Victoria Sullivan will face Gentiane Lupi for the WMO Muay Thai World title. Promoter, Nick Atkins of Infliction Fight Series, was the first promoter in Australia to bring Muay Thai events since COVID and is doing everything in his power to ensure the event goes ahead on the Gold Coast.
Before Victoria Sullivan bids to become the second Australian female fighter to win a WMO Muay Thai World title (first being Kim Townsend in 2019) when she takes on Gentiane Lupi at Infliction Fight Series next month, we take a look back at all nine Australian Muay Thai fighters to win a WMO Muay Thai title in the first half of 2021.

Victoria Sullivan
The aforementioned female Muay Thai fighter, who trains out of Champions Gym in Perth, Western Australia, won the WMO Muay Thai Australian title back in March.
Victoria Sullivan defeated both Brooke Cooper and Leonie Macks on the same night in a Super Four-Woman tournament to win both the Infliction Muay Thai title and the blue and gold of the WMO Muay Thai Lightweight title.
Billy Coulter
Two-time IFMA Australian champion Billy Coulter added a third national title to his trophy cabinet when he won the WMO Muay Thai Australia title just a couple of weeks ago.
The Queensland-based Muay Thai fighter, who runs Billy Badass Muay Thai on the Sunshine Coast, defeated Daniel Marshall in the main event at Muay Thai League in Carrara, Gold Coast.
Joseph Gabiola
Joseph Gabiola won the WMO Muay Thai Queensland State title on 22nd May 2021.
“Machine Gun”, who trains out of Courage Training Centre in Townsville, North-Eastern Queensland, defeated Tommy Cranston at NQ Beat Down “After Dark” in Cairns.
Nicole Banney
In April, Nicole Banney defeated Nathalie Pavlides to win the Eruption Muay Thai title, and just six weeks later she would compete for the WMO Muay Thai Queensland State title.
She defeated Bronte Simpson to win the strap at Muay Thai League on the Gold Coast.
