Much like the UKMF national trials, the FEKM (Federación Española de Kickboxing and Muaythai) hold annual open championships in Spain.
This weekend, the Spanish national championships will be held at the 6000-capacity venue Palacio Multiusos in Guadalajara, which is 40-miles north-east of Madrid in Spain.

Adopting a similar format, the Spanish Championships are trials for the national team and the winners usually advance to represent their country in IFMA European and World competitions.
On our fighter database, we have many active Spanish fighters, including Miguel Brito of Muay Pam Gym in Tenerife who will be competing at the Championships in Guadalajara which runs over two days.

Miguel will be in a group of four competitors in the 63.5kg category, which includes Jose Maria Quevedo Tapia (Cataluña), Daniel Basile (Euskadi) and the very experienced Jonathan Fabian (Madrid) who has shared the ring with Muay Thai pound-for-pound king, Saenchai.
In the female 54kg division, Maite Botella of Muay Combat in Alicante will be competing for the gold medal in a category of five fighters including Cinthya Patiño, Olaia Capetillo, Jessica Alone and Sarai Garcia.
