The next Pitaktham Birthday Super Fight event is set to take place in Songkhla, Southern Thailand, on Tuesday, August 2. According to an update posted by @muaythairesults earlier this week, the event will host a stacked 14-bout card. The main event will see Sangmanee (Thai: แสงมณี) vs Yodlekphet (Thai: ยอดเหล็กเพชร) in a 140lbs contest.
After a poor run of results throughout 2020 and 2021, Sangmanee’s form finally took a turn earlier this year. A huge win of Kongklai AnnyMuayThai (Thai: ก้องไกล) was followed by a draw against Lamnammoonlek Tded99 (Thai: ลำน้ำมูลเล็ก). In his latest bout, just over a month ago, he defeated Petchmanee Por.Lakboon with a fourth-round elbow knockout at Rajadamnern Stadium.
Yodlekphet has also suffered his fair share of defeats in recent years. Despite wins over Kulabdam (Thai: กุหลาบดำ) and Seksan Or.Kwanmuang (Thai: เสกสรร), Yodlekphet has lost 12 of his last 17 fights. Though the numbers may look like he is far from elite level, on paper it’s evident Yodlekphet is still up there with the best. Losses to Ferrari Fairtex, Rungkit, Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Nuenglanlek are forgivable for fans of the current Rajadamnern Stadium champion.
Despite one of those losses coming against Sangmanee, Yodlekphet has beaten “The Million Dollar Baby” on three occasions in the four times they’ve met. He is also coming off four straight fights (1 draw, 3 losses) against Kaona PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym, who is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound Muay Thai fighters in the World today.
