This Saturday, Jacob Smith will get the opportunity to take the UK 57.1kg #1 spot as he faces Reece Thomson on one the biggest Muay Thai shows of the year, YOKKAO.
After his last outing on YOKKAO back in October ended in disqualification after an accidental illegal kick left his opponent Simon Forrest unable to continue, Smith will now get the opportunity to right some wrongs when he faces Reece Thomson on the stacked YOKKAO fight card this weekend.

After speaking with his opponent Reece earlier this week, our reporters had the chance to catch up with Jacob to get his thoughts on the upcoming UK #1 bout this Saturday.
How has training been going for the fight against Reece at YOKKAO this weekend?
Jacob: “I train hard all year round, but training for this fight with Reece has been ever better.
“I have been working on a few things behind closed doors, but things can change in the click of a finger when in the ring so I’m not focusing too much on anything in particular.”
Will we see a new UK #1 on Saturday?
Jacob: “100% you will see a new UK #1 on Saturday. All I have done since the fight got confirmed is visualise becoming the new #1. I sacrifice everything for this sport.”
Any message to Reece?
Jacob: “Reece, make sure you bring the best version of you, because I’ll be bringing the best me.”
Your previous opponent Simon Forrest said he would only be interested in a rematch if you become the #1 – what’s your thoughts on that?
Jacob: “When I become the UK #1, Simon can ask nicely for a rematch and I might give him a shot.”
