Jake Purdy is, as Liam Harrison says, ‘a brave man.’ Purdy has announced he will be flying out to Abu Dhabi to fight Yousef Boughanem on Flash Entertainments Fight Night. This is going to be a huge test for Purdy, some of Boughanem’s accoumplishments are astounding. Purdy said, “since I was 15 years old, all I’ve ever wanted to do was be the best Thai boxer in the world. It has been my dream for a very long time. Youssef is without any doubt the best 72.5 kg fighter in the world currently, he is WBC world champion, lumpinee etc, if I beat him it really puts me up there at the top!”
A fantastic opportunity for Purdy who will be, no doubt, ready for the upcoming challenge presented to him. When asked about the opportunity and how it came about he said, “I’ve recently added Brad Stanton to my team as my manager, Sonny Is my head coach and Brad is managing my fights, him and Kieran Keddle both worked together to secure this match up for me, so a massive thanks to the both of them!
What a chance it is for Purdy to show the world that he can share the ring with the likes of Boughanem, even Harrison said that he was ‘by far the best 72kg fighter on the planet!’ Purdy has had some pretty big moments in his career, with wins all over the world he feels he is ready for the test! “He (Boughanem) is, without doubt, the best out there! I believe in myself and every fighter has weaknesses even if they are little ones, we have a game plan and believe that if executed well I can win, Im training hard and eating right and my weight is better than ever, no more last min 10 kg weight cuts!”
He must feel very excited at the prospect of making his dreams come true saying on social media that, “in under 3 weeks I fight in Abu Dhabi against Yousef Boughanem, I have dedicated the last 10 years of my life to this sport and I’m inches away from the dream becoming reality, time to work 💥”
