Northeast Muay Thai fighters, Joe Welch and Harry Purvis, secured victories at Lumpinee Stadium today. The pair, who train out of Northern Kings Gym in Newcastle upon Tyne, both fought at the Fairtex Fight show in Bangkok.
Joe and Harry flew out to Thailand with the team last week. Under the guidance of Mac Thanunchai, the pair have been training at the popular Fairtex Training Centre in Pattaya.
In the first fight of the night, Harry Purvis faced Sirisak SathianMuayThaiGym in a 74kg contest.
He cruised through his Thai opponent with relative ease. A flash left hook saw Harry drop his opponent within the first 30 seconds of the bout. He also landed a heavy leg kick which caused visible pain to Sirisak.
After dropping his opponent numberous times within the opening couple of minutes, the referee waved the fight off. Harry Purvis secured a first round TKO victory.

Next up was Joe Welch. He faced Kazakh fighter Sergey Krizhanovskii in a 74kg bout.
Known for his energetic, fast pace, Joe found success in his low kicks and boxing combinations. Though his opponent was skilled and threw some technical strikes, it wasn’t enough to cause any danger to the northeast fighter.
The higher work rate and striking accuracy was enough to secure the unanimous decision win for the Northern Kings man.
Both Joe Welch and Harry Purvis will return to the UK to prepare for their next bouts. Both fighters will be competing at VICTORY 11 at the Newcastle Vertu Arena on June 3.
