In July 2022, The World Games took place in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. Muay Thai took centre stage of the combat sports disciplines, with some of the biggest names in the sport competing for gold.
Among the competitors, we saw the likes of Iman Barlow, Niamh Kinehan, Monika Chochlikova, Superball Tded99, Capitan PetchyindeeAcademy and much more compete across various weight categories.
Recently, The World Games release their list of nominations for the Athlete of the Year in 2022. Amongst those nominated is the Women’s 51kg Gold Medalist, Monika Chochlikova.
Voting opened on January 10, with athletes from 23 disciplines nominated. Users are able to vote for two athletes, giving two points to their chosen athlete and one point to runner-up. A second vote must be given to ensure your votes count.

Why vote for Monika Chochlikova?
Monika Chochlikova is one of the most decorated female Muay Thai fighters in Europe. She is a multiple-time IFMA Muay Thai and WAKO Kickboxing World and European champion. As well as that, she also competes under MMA rules at one of Europe’s biggest MMA promotions, Oktagon MMA.
Outside of amateur competition, Monika Chochlikova also holds the WMC MuayThai World title, having won the championship in 2021.

After claiming gold in the Elite 51kg category at the IFMA World Championships in Bangkok in 2021, she later qualified for The World Games in 2022. Another gold medal at The World Games 2022 earned her a nomination as the representative of the sport of Muay Thai in The World Games Athlete of the Year 2022.
Monika is the sole-representative of Muay Thai for the accolade, alongside athletes from 23 other sports.
