Burton Market Hall was home to Muay Thai Showcase on the evening of Saturday 2nd June. Aaron Hunt, the promoter of Muay Thai Showcase spoke with Fight Record and said “Highlights of the event for me were the crowd. From the first bout to the last, the atmosphere was electric in there!” Having a good crowd at your event definitely helps with the atmosphere at any show.
The way an event runs is down to many people on the night, with the help of team members from the gym or friends and family to help on the doors or be runners to make sure gloves are evenly distributed to the fighters, Hunt said, my team of staff, runner, DJ, security, medical staff and bar crew really made it an event to be proud of. Watching them all do their thing harmoniously was a real joy for me. Daryll Bagley and his medics were busy on the night, but because of their next level expertise and eye for detail, everyone got the protection and attention they needed, in a sport where people are out to hurt each other. Recommend them to anyone!”
Having a team behind you to help out on the day is imperative, “The smooth running of the event is a massive thanks to my team and the effortless professionalism of the trainers & fighters who made weight and turned up on time. As ever. We’re a small team and a tight group, despite being let down time & time again – we still come through”
Having a slick team behind you while running event is one thing but having a strong card which delivers to the audience is another. When asked which fights stood out to him Hunt replied, “There were a few fights that stood out to me, but the fighter of the night was Jack Cooper. I was too busy organising so only saw 3 fights properly, he stood out by far against a phenomenal talent and future star to win the British Title! “
A lot of hard work and determination goes into organising events as many of us can relate to, a lot of sleepless nights, endless matching and stress because of pull-outs, things not delivering on time and so much more. Hunt said, “(there is) too many to thank, but in short, every one of my incredible sponsors, without whom the show wouldn’t happen. The production team, bar crew, venue staff, those all in the background but mostly my amazing wife and 4month old son. Both inspire me to do what I can to give opportunities to those in the sport. Being at work 7-5 then bathing & putting my son to bed, spending time with my wife until she goes to bed… then opening up work for this show – 11 pm until 2,3,4am most nights for 6 months, seeing it all come together makes it all worth it”
