Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu vs Elbek Alyshov
Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu defends his ONE Bantamweight MMA World Title for the first time. The Mongolian is 37 and fights under the nickname The Tormentor. He submitted Fabricio Andrade last December to capture the gold. The win capped a remarkable year that included a Netflix appearance and a meeting with Mongolia’s president.
Before winning gold, Baatarkhuu once worked in a mine. He rides a winning streak of four fights into Friday’s defense. Elbek Alyshov brings the toughest test of that reign so far. The Azerbaijani is 27 and undefeated at 10-0, with nine finishes to his name. He has already beaten touted contenders Carlo Bumina-ang and Jeremy Pacatiw. Baatarkhuu has earned this moment. Alyshov intends to end it.
Watcharaphon Laochokcharoen vs Akram Hamidi
Watcharaphon Laochokcharoen headlines ONE Friday Fights 164 against France’s Akram Hamidi. The pair meet in a strawweight Muay Thai clash between two very different journeys. Watcharaphon is 33 and boasts 172 career wins fighting out of PK Saenchai Muaythaigym. He began training after his father marched him into a gym to settle a school yard dispute.
Watcharaphon now rides a winning streak of five fights inside ONE. Four of those wins ended before the final bell. Hamidi is 27 and fights under the nickname La Pepite. He is of French Algerian heritage and has won three ISKA Kickboxing World Championships. He also holds a WBC Muay Thai International Title. Hamidi has already shared the ring with former ONE champions Sam-A and Prajanchai. Friday is his chance to finally claim the ONE contract he has long chased.
