The biggest Muay Thai event of the year certainly lived up to the hype. ONE Friday Fights 34 brough the heat to Lumpinee Stadium this past Friday, September 22.
The stacked card featured many of the world’s best Muay Thai athletes. The card was action-packed from start to finish.
Muangthai and Yodlekpet get double bonus
One of the highlights of the night was the Bantamweight contest between Muangthai and Yodlekpet. The pair went to war for three solid rounds.
Yodlekpet found success in his boxing throughout the second round. Muangthai looked wobbled, but showed incredible durability to see out the round. In the third, he came out flying, landing knee after knee.
The judges gave the unanimous decision in favour of Muangthai. After the bout, both Muangthai and Yodlekpet were given 350,000 baht (~$10,000 USD) by Chatri Sityodtong.
Rodtang vs Superlek result
In the main event, Rodtang and Superlek met in a highly-anticipated Muay Thai bout. Despite Superlek missing weight, the bout still went ahead at a catchweight of 140lbs. Rodtang’s Flyweight crown, however, was not up for grabs in the three-round bout.
The main event lived-up to the hype in a three-round thriller. Rodtang opened Superlek early with a big elbow in the first round. The referee paused the bout so the doctor could take a look, but Superlek was allowed to continue.
In the second round, Superlek closed the distance with his knees and landed a flash knockdown. Rodtang immediately got to his feet pleaing that it was a slip, but the referee gave him an eight-count.
Rodtang put it on Superek in the third-round, but it wasn’t enough to persuade the judges. All three judges scored it in favour of Superlek.
