One of the most memorable Muay Thai bouts in ONE Championship history graced our screens back in August as the ‘Ironman’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon challenged British star Jonathan Haggerty for the ONE Super Series Flyweight Muay Thai World title at ONE: DAWN OF HEROES.

After a back and forth technical few rounds, Rodtang picked up the pace in the remaining frames, unleashing an unstoppable barrage of punches that culminated in a big knockdown in the fourth round.
By the end of the final round, the result was left in the hands of the judges, awarding the Thai star the unanimous decision, dethroning British phenom Jonathan Haggerty.
After such a close contest, decided only by the knockdown in the fourth round, an immediate rematch was on everyone’s lips, and after Rodtang successfully defended his new crown against Brazil’s Walter Goncalves at ONE: CENTURY, the highly-anticipated rematch was confirmed for ONE Championship’s opening show of 2020.
Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Haggerty believes he can use the lessons he learned from his first bout with Rodtang to defeat the Thai superstar in their rematch on Friday 10th January.
“I will come less emotional because, in the fight with Rodtang, he wants you to get emotional. He wants you to fight him. He wants you to bring out your war instincts where you’re not comfortable“, Haggerty told ONE Championship.
“I’m going to stick off my jab and stick off my teep. I’m going to frustrate him. Let him come to fight — which he normally does — and hope we catch him with what we’ve been working on.“
Haggerty faces Rodtang in the main event at ONE: A NEW TOMORROW which also features British legend Liam Harrison taking on ‘Jordan Boy’ Mohammed Bin Mahmoud, set for the Impact Arena in Bangkok on Friday 10th January.
