The fight every Muay Thai fan has been wanting for years. Rodtang vs Superlek is finally set to go down on at Lumpinee Stadium on September 22, 2023.
Earlier today, ONE Championship CEO, Chatri Sityodtong, took to social media to confirm the news.
Undoubtedly, this is the biggest Muay Thai bout in ONE Championship’s history. However, many fans are left questioning whether this will actually happen.
The pair were set to clash for Superlek‘s ONE Flyweight Kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24. Just a few days before the bout, Rodtang withdrew due to an undisclosed injury.
It’s also well known that Rodtang and Superlek have a good friendship. Rodtang has openly admitted that he was not keen on a fight against Superlek for this reason.
Rodtang also diverted his attention to a Bantamweight showdown against newly-crowned champion Jonathan Haggerty.
When is Rodtang vs Superlek?
Despite the rumours the fight will not happen, Chatri Sityodtong has confirmed the pair will meet under Muay Thai rules on September 22. Stay tuned for further developments on this story and more.
