Gabrielle De Ramos has only been training for three years. Now, she’s had ten fights; five of which in 2022 alone. This past weekend, she registered another victory — her second win in just one week!

I’m striving everyday to be the best fighter I can be, that’s one goal that will never change for me.

De Ramos trains at the popular Muay U gym in Canberra, under the tutelage of Muay Thai trainer, Kieran Walsh. She trains her partner, David Pennimpede, as well as ONE Championship athlete, Diandra Martin.

“I started Muay Thai in 2019, just for a bit of fun really. Never would I have thought back then that I would be fighting. I actually lost my first three fights – they were all really close, but they still weren’t wins. A few people, including my family and other close loved ones, told me to just quit – but there was no way I was doing that. I ended up winning my very next fight by head kick knockout.

“In my 3 years in the sport, I’ve been able to rack up 10 fights – half of them were this year. I just kept saying yes to every opportunity we were given because they were rare for girls my weight, I just couldn’t let them pass me by. Even if I went up in weight or experience, all I know is that I love this sport and I always want to be around it.”

Gabrielle fought on Conquest Muay Thai Promotions on October 1. She defeated Iris Ranciardo and then took a last minute fight at Muay Thai League. Just a week later, she secured another big win, this time over Dani Rushton (formerly Bator), who has shared the ring with some of the best in her division.

She hopes to stay as active as possible in the near future. With female Muay Thai thriving in Thailand, a visit to compete in the motherland is also on her radar.

“At the moment I just plan to keep saying yes, rack up ring experience and fights. I’d be keen for the opportunity to fight in Thailand. I know there are more girls my weight there, and it would be amazing to experience it all over there.”
