The UK’s Jacob Smith looked razor sharp as he dismissed Walter Goncalves in the first round of their Flyweight clash at ONE Fight Night 17.
Smith made his debut in the Grand Prix tournament against none other than divisional kingpin Rodtang Jitmuangnon back in March 2022. Since that loss, he’s suffered some major injuries which has kept him out of action ever since.
Back to full fitness and looking better than ever, Smith obliterated the #2 Flyweight Walter Goncalves. He landed some snappy low kicks and body shots early in round one. Some of Goncalves’ strikes found a home, but it wasn’t enough to phase Smith.

As the round drew near to a close, the pair tangled up in the clinch and Smith landed a flash knee to the ribs which dropped the Brazilian. Goncalves was unable to recover in time and the fight was waved off by referee Justin Brown with seconds to spare in the first round.
The knockout victory also earned Smith a life-changing $50,000 bonus. The win also catapults him back up there with the very best in the division as he takes out the #2 ranked Flyweight contender.
