Earlier this week we published our Rankings Report, previewing which top ranked fighters are competing around the UK this weekend.

In this ‘Ones to Watch’ article, we preview which of the novices and younger fighters in action this weekend who look like they have a promising future ahead of them.

Lewis Hanratty (Aberdeen Combat Centre)

The young Scot from Aberdeen Combat Centre is currently unbeaten in his short career.

Since joining the ACC gym through their ‘Beginner-to-Winner’ training scheme last year, the tall, rangy Hanratty has impressed in all of his bouts and will be looking to continue the run of good results when he faces Danny Gillespie at Revolution Muay Thai this Saturday.

Joe Ryan (2 Brother’s Muay Thai)

If you’re a fan of Muay Thai in the UK, the young, talented Joe Ryan will need no introduction.

Competing from a young age and already 60-fights in his career, the 2 Brothers prodigy has competed all over the World, including a gold medal at the 2018 IFMA Youth World Championships in Bangkok and most recently taking the gold medal at the Baltic Muaythai Open earlier this month.

Headlining the undercard, Joe will be in action on his home show Stand Your Ground 8 this Saturday, competing for the WBC National title against Lumpini Crawley‘s Harvey White.

Hayden Armstrong vs Reiss Holden-Payton

On the undercard at Stand Your Ground 8, two of the top UK youngsters, Hayden Armstrong and Reiss Holden-Payton face each other in a potential fight-of-the-night match-up.

Reiss, who won the 2018 YOKKAO Open, is confident ahead of the bout with the Unit 5 Muay Thai prospect, Armstrong.

“Trust me, this will be a war”, Reiss said. “I’m ready to make my statement to everyone.”

Coming off a big win at Victory IV at the end of 2018, Hayden is looking to build on a successful year and make 2019 even bigger.
