UK Muay Thai rising star Alfie Pearse is set for the opportunity of a life-time. He will replace the injured Adam Noi in the RWS Muay Thai Super-Lightweight tournament, it was confirmed today.
After Adam Noi withdrew from the tournament last week due to an arm infection, the first round fight against Nuenglanlek got called off. As a result, Nuenglanlek received a bye and earned 3 points in the tournament.
Rumours then circulated that British fighter Alfie Pearse would replace him. Today, the RWS team reached out to us to confirm and allowed us to release the news.
Alfie Pearse enters RWS Muay Thai tournament
Alfie Pearse’s first fight in the RWS tournament is scheduled for Round 2 on August 10. As a direct replacement for Adam Noi, he was scheduled to face Petchchaimate, however, the RWS team also told us the Thai had withdrawn with an injury.
Though there are rumours of a replacement for Petchchaimate, there’s no official confirmation yet. So Alfie Pearse’s opponent for August 10 is still unknown.
The third round of group bouts, however, is set to take place on September 14, where Alfie Pearse will face the current Rajadamnern Stadium Super-Lightweight champion, Dam Parunchai.
The bout won’t be an official title fight, however, a victory over the current champion will be a huge statement for the UK Muay Thai star.
