Samingdet Bangmadklongtan retained the Interim Rajadamnern Stadium Lightweight Title on Saturday 15th August, defeating Duangsompong Jitmuangnon in the main event of RWS Muay Thai at Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The victory completes a remarkable full-circle story and sets up an undisputed title fight against reigning champion Egor Bikrev.
This fight carried real weight beyond the interim title. Samingdet and Duangsompong had met before on the RWS platform last year, with Duangsompong coming out on top in that contest. Saturday’s main event was the rematch, and the stakes could not have been higher… the interim Rajadamnern Stadium Lightweight Title on the line and an undisputed fight waiting for the winner.
Since their bout last year, Samingdet has captured the Channel 7 Stadium Lightweight Title earlier in 2026, adding another significant piece of gold to a career that already included the Rajadamnern Stadium Super Featherweight Championship and the WBC Muay Thai World Super Featherweight Title.
He then won the Interim Rajadamnern Stadium Lightweight Title in the main event of RWS Muay Thai on 6th June, beating Flukenoi to claim the belt and position himself as the mandatory challenger to Bikrev.
Defending that title against the man who had previously beaten him made Saturday night a genuine test of how far Samingdet has come.
The Fight
Samingdet passed the test. He produced the performance of a fighter who has grown since their first meeting, controlling the contest against Duangsompong, dropping him with an elbow in the third round and going on to win and retaining the interim title to keep his path to the undisputed championship on track.
The Bigger Picture
The undisputed Rajadamnern Stadium Lightweight Championship is currently held by Egor Bikrev, who claimed the belt in one of the most dramatic moments in recent RWS history. The Russian stopped Sangmanee in just 24 seconds back in April. One of the fastest title-winning knockouts in the stadium’s history, to become the first Russian fighter ever to hold a Rajadamnern Stadium title.
Bikrev is currently sidelined through injury. When he returns, a fully undisputed lightweight title fight against Samingdet now appears inevitable. It is a contest that would pit the incumbent champion’s explosive knockout power against an interim champion who has rebuilt his career and beaten the man who once beat him.
The lightweight division at Rajadamnern Stadium is shaping up to be one of the most compelling stories in Muay Thai heading into the second half of 2026.
