Stephen Irvine Returns For Huge Fight In Denmark Next Month

It was confirmed earlier today by Danish Muay Thai promotion, Mikenta Fight Night, that Scottish star Stephen Irvine would be taking on one of Denmark’s top fighters on the next show scheduled for 19th December.

Irvine, currently ranked #2 in the UK at 55.4kg (Featherweight), will step up in weight to face Johannes Bakke, considered Denmark’s #1 at 60kg.

The GTBA / Deachkalek Muay Thai Academy fighter, Stephen Irvine, was last seen in action in December last year. In fine form, he defeated one of Spain’s top fighters Javier Tebar, via fifth round stoppage.

Considered one of the best fighters in the UK in 2019, Irvine is on an active five fight win streak which includes international wins over Fred Cordiero, Jay Counsel and the aforementioned Javier Tebar.

His upcoming opponent, Johannes Bakke, is a Danish National WBC Muaythai Champion, and is no stranger to high level British opposition.

Having lost to former UK #1 Reece Thomson in 2019, he has since took wins over upcoming British prospects Chad Ryan and Liam Patel on his home show Mikenta Fight Night in the past twelve months.

This bout between two of European’s rising prospects joins another quality match-up as Denmark’s Mikkel Lund takes on Sweden’s Kenny Hong in a WBC Muaythai Scandinavian title main event.
