This past Friday, January 14, Tawanchai returned to ONE Championship to face his friend, Saemapetch Fairtex.
Originally billed as a Bantamweight Muay Thai bout, the limit was scrapped last minute due to Tawanchai being unable to make the weight. Instead, they fought in a Catchweight bout set at 66.45kg, almost 1kg above the Bantamweight limit.
Tawanchai looked as sharp as ever, finishing Saemapetch with a huge knockout shot in the first round. Immediately after the bout, in his in-ring post-fight interview, Tawanchai said he wanted to face Petchmorakot next.

Later on that evening, Tawanchai sat down for media duties and answered questions in the post-event virtual press conference.
When asked about the weight issue, Tawanchai explained Bantamweight was too much for him, and he will be staying at Featherweight moving forward.
Tawanchai was then asked if he would like to challenge Superbon, the current ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World champion. He responded by saying Superbon is his idol, but he would challenge anyone at Featherweight except Superbon.
He continued by explaining, for now he is not at Superbon’s level and that fight will come when he is ready.
Asked about opponents he feels he is ready to face, though, he immediately responded by saying he wants to face Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy, the current ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World champion.
Petchmorakot is on an active four-fight win streak, having won the inaugural title against Pongsiri PKSaenchaimuaythaigym, and defending on two occassions against Yodsanklai Fairtex and Magnus Andersson.
