[Vlog #008 video] Friday training with the Axeman at Mayfair Gym, Sunderland

On Friday I did my Strength and Conditioning training the Lee ‘Axeman’ Axon from T4 Training. I always look forward to these sessions because I venture into a world that is generally unknown to me. Give me a heavy bag and some gloves and I’m away. However, throw me into a situation where there are loads of machines and free weights and I just don’t have a clue.

I feel as though I have so much to learn when it comes to utilising certain muscle groups and how to build muscle, properly lose weight, proper exercises to do to achieve certain things etc. Lee has been in the fitness/bodybuilding industry for over 30 years so has a wealth of knowledge and I try and use every session to build upon my knowledge to push and learn new things.

Eventually, I will feel comfortable walking into a ‘proper’ gym, but at the moment, everything in there is still so alien to me. Putting myself in a position where I feel uncomfortable though is something that I have very quickly come to terms with. Knowing that in a few (very short) months, I will be having my first Muay Thai fight. I will be primed. I will be ready. For now, I will embrace the fatty that I am and slowly see the decline in body fat. See the incline in definition and feeling of strength growing in my muscles.

I must say, I am very much looking forward to this. The shift in mindset that has happened is just crazy and to sit back and reflect on how far I have come in just a few short weeks in incredible. You can do it too. There is nothing stopping you other than yourself. I don’t know why I put it off for so long. Ignorance for me was not bliss. It was slowly killing me. I feel for the first time in my adult life that I now have a goal to work towards and something that I can help influence other people to make positive changes in their life too.

Already I have received so many messages of support and encouragement from so many different people from different areas in my life, old school mates, old associates, gym friends, family etc. It just goes to show that health and happiness ring through to everyone. If you are on the fence, then watch some of my videos, take some inspiration and use me as accountability. Message me and I will keep you accountable to the goals that you set yourself.

We can set goals together, workout together, go for runs at the same time, whatever. Having someone there to push you (at least for me) is something that keeps me going. Which is why I started the Fat Lad Accountability challenge. Where we get up three days a week and do a workout in the morning to set the day up in the best way possible.

Message the Fat Lad to Fighter Facebook page and say hello, join the Facebook group and join in with the community. There is a wealth of knowledge to be tapped into with everyone that is in there so don’t be afraid to engage and share your journey too. Alternatively, email me – dom@fightrecord.co.uk and I can speak to you directly.

What I’m trying to say is, everything is difficult at first. Daunting even. But you overcome the obstacles and push to improve yourself. Went completely off topic on this one but it is all valid points. Enjoy the video and make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel to be kept up to speed with the workouts and journey I am on.
