“Why Would You Pay So Much for Your Kid to do Martial Arts?”

Crawley Martial Arts Academy / Lumpini Crawley owner and head coach, John Jarvis, recently spoke out about a question he was asked by a close friend; “Why would you pay so much for your kid to do Thai Boxing?”

In an article we published last year, we mentioned not only does it teach self defence, your child can also learn the values of discipline and courage amongst many attributes that build a good character.

See what John had to say to his friends question;

“I pay for the opportunities that Thai Boxing provides my child with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their life and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others.”

John Jarvis, Crawley Martial Arts Academy

I have a confession to make; I don’t invest the money for my kid to “Do Thai Boxing”. So, what am I paying for?

I pay for those moments when my child becomes so tired they want quit but doesn’t.

I pay for those days when my child comes home from school and is “too tired or too sore” to go to practice but goes anyway.

I pay for my child to learn to be disciplined, focused, and dedicated.

I pay for my child to learn to take care of their body and equipment.

I pay for my child to learn to work with others and to be a good team mate, gracious in defeat, and humble in success.

I pay for my child to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don’t get that win they’d hoped for, but they go back week after week giving it their best shot.

I pay for my child to learn to make and accomplish goals.

I pay for my child to respect, not only themselves, but other boxers, officials and coaches.

I pay for my child to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years, of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight.

I pay for my child to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals.

I pay for the opportunity my child has and will have to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories, to be as proud of their achievements as I am.

I pay so that my child can be out on the mats, instead of in front of a screen or out on the streets!

…I could go on but, to be short, I don’t pay for the matches; I pay for the opportunities that Thai Boxing provides my child with to develop attributes that will serve them well throughout their life and give them the opportunity to bless the lives of others.

From what I have seen so far I think it is a great investment!
