ONE Championship returns for another double event this weekend. ONE 162 goes down on Friday, with ONE on Prime Video 3 taking place in the early hours of Saturday morning (Asia and Europe).
ONE 162, which goes down at the normal time on Friday, October 21, features a huge Kickboxing main event. Zhang Peimian takes on Jonathan Di Bella for the vacant ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World title.
The pair will clash for the vacant strap after former champion, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, announced his retirement early this year.
Zhang Peimian has made a blistering start to his ONE Championship tenure. Wins over Josh Tonna and Aslanbek Zikreev have earned the Chinese Kickboxing superstar a shot at the strap. At just 19-years-old, he already claims he wants to be a legend.
“The World Championship is just one of my goals. I want to be a legend. I feel that after all these years of hard work, everything will be worth it.”
His opponent, Jonathan Di Bella, is a ONE Championship debutant, but more than worthy of a shot at the title in his first bout in ONE Super Series. He brings a perfect 10-0 Kickboxing record into this fight. With his flashy striking style, it’s clear to see why ONE Championship were keen to get the Italian-Canadian’s signature.
Elsewhere Constantin Rusu takes on Islam Murtazaev in a Lightweight Kickboxing bout. On the lead card, Tagir Khalilov makes a return to the ONE Championship circle. He was last seen making his debut against Rodtang in a Kickboxing bout over a year ago. He is set to take on Denis Puric in a Flyweight Muay Thai contest.
Perhaps one of the featured ONE Super Series bouts of the night will be Jimmy Vienot vs Niclas Larsen. Both fighters made their promotional debuts last time out, with Vienot losing out to Petchmorakot, and Larsen losing to Tawanchai. They will now face each other in a Featherweight Muay Thai contest, where both will be looking to add their first wins under ONE Championship.
